Mary T. Bassett, MD, MPH, is Professor of the Practice of Health and Human Rights in the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She previously served as the New York City health commissioner and, later, as the New York State health commissioner. She is a Member of the National Academy of Medicine.
